Worldwide Clinical Trials Builds Global Contract Research Organization
Jordan Company Portfolio Company Closes Fifth Acquisition in Last Year
Purchase of MediQuest in Eastern Europe Establishes Premier Global Contract Research Organization
NEW YORK, NY – July 9, 2008 – The Jordan Company, a leading middle-market private equity firm, today announced that Worldwide Clinical Trials, Inc., a premier contract research organization whose global expansion it is sponsoring, has reached an important milestone in its growth. Worldwide Clinical Trials, which is run by an experienced management team under the leadership of Dr. Neal Cutler, has recently completed its fifth acquisition in the last year, acquiring MediQuest, a contract research organization in Eastern Europe providing specialized clinical development services to biopharmaceutical companies and organizations.
Formed in 2007 by Dr. Cutler as CEO in partnership with The Jordan Company, the firm focuses on complex, high-growth therapeutic areas with primary expertise in central nervous system and cardiovascular disease. The company’s other recent acquisitions include Evidence Clinical and Pharmaceutical Research LLC; Clinical Studies Management Group, Inc.; Nottingham Clinical Research Limited; and CEDRA Corporation. The five acquisitions extend Worldwide Clinical Trials global footprint to more than 30 countries.
“The expansion of capability and geographic coverage that Worldwide Clinical Trials has engineered over the past year is a clear sign of their successful efforts to target this growing industry. Working in conjunction with the management team, we have helped to broaden the business through strategic growth and a highly selective strategy to acquire companies that complement its existing skill-set,” said David Butler, a Principal at The Jordan Company. The Jordan Company closed its second institutional private equity fund with $3.6 billion at the beginning of 2008.
“The acquisitions we have completed to date significantly enhance our contract research organization capabilities and our ability to manage large, global trials, within our primary therapeutic areas of focus. That in turn positions us well for future growth,” said Dr. Cutler. “We have effectively expanded our operations and significantly enhanced our ability to meet the global needs of pharma and biotech companies. Our presence in Eastern Europe and Russia, two of the most attractive growth regions for clinical trials, helps transform our business into a truly global contract research organization.”
