Olympus Re Holdings, Ltd. (“Olympus Re”) is the parent company of Olympus Reinsurance Company, Ltd., a Bermuda-based reinsurer that was formed in December 2001 following the events of September 11, 2001. The company operates primarily through a quota share agreement with Folksamerica Reinsurance Company, a subsidiary of White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd. (NYSE: WTM). This quota share agreement ("Quota Share Agreement") is focused on the property excess of loss reinsurance market and, to a lesser extent, the marine excess of loss reinsurance market. Olympus Re and Helicon Reinsurance Company, Ltd., ("Helicon Re") a Bermuda-based reinsurer formed in 2006 to operate separate from, but parallel to, Olympus Re, write the majority of their business through the Quota Share Agreement, which is allocated between Olympus Re and Helicon Re pro rata based upon their respective book values.
