International Mining Machinery Ltd. (“IMM”) was formed in 2006 to acquire Jixi Coal Mining and Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (“Jixi”) and Jiamusi Coal Mining and Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (“Jiamusi”). Jixi is headquartered in Jixi, a city in the northwestern part of Heilongjiang Province, China and is the leading manufacturer of shearers in China with a 25% market share. The shearer is the “workhorse” of mine equipment that does the actual cutting of the coal from the coal face in underground longwall mining. Jiamusi is headquartered in Jiamusi, a city in the far northwestern corner of Heilongjiang Province, China and is the leading manufacturer of roadheaders in China with a 40% market share. The roadheader is the machine that cuts long tunnels the width of the coal block to be mined into the coal seam. Since the original acquisition of Jixi and Jiamusi, IMM has also acquired a manufacturer of control systems for coal mining equipment and they have established a joint venture to manufacturer coal mining armored face conveyors.
